Rather than a tutorial this is a field report how I document my projects. It was a long journey and I am not so sure if it already ended.


Bigmail is a web application designed for "sending" large emails.

In other words: If an attachment is to big to be sent by email, bigmail gets the job done :-)


Sometimes you need to send files to someone that are too big for email. To submit those files you could use Dropbox (or any other cloud storage) but ...

  • not everybody has such a cloud storage
  • many people don't want to give data out of their hands (specially companies)

I wanted to have a way that I can send large files to anyone AND that anyone can send large files to me. This should be possible by using ones web space in order to keep full control of the data.
